Introduction

Hello everyone! 

    Welcome to The Algorithm. Over the next several weeks, we will be discussing instances of social media and pop culture showing up in politics. With the rise of the internet and social media, the historical relationship of pop culture and politics has shifted. We are seeing a steady increase of people receiving their news from social media and through interactions with pop culture on the internet. From posting memes to receiving celebrity endorsements, there has been consistent use of these sectors as tools by politicians as well. We will also consider and look at how politics continue to show up in all forms of pop culture and how audiences have reacted.
